SOFEC Awarded Third CALM Buoy at Barbers Point by PAR Hawaii
March 31, 2025
Houston, 25 March 2025 – SOFEC is pleased to announce that it has been awarded an EPC project by Par Hawaii Refining Company (PAR) for the supply of a replacement CALM Buoy at Barbers Point in Oahu, Hawaii. SOFEC has previously supplied the two CALM Buoys at this location (1987 and 2010) and is now supplying a third CALM Buoy for PAR. SOFEC’s President & CEO, Arun Duggal says, “SOFEC’s relationship with PAR highlights the long-term commitment SOFEC has to supporting its client for the continued life of their production facilities and making adjustments to suit the client’s specific needs. I congratulate PAR for their continued success and thank them for their trust in SOFEC with this important project.”

SOFEC obtains Approval in Principle from ABS for its Electric Charging Buoy

Houston, 07 December 2023 – A global effort to reduce carbon emissions and pollution has led to the review of trends in the marine industry. One area of interest is expanding the use of electric shore power and renewable energy as fuel sources. Vessels at sea, or in harbor that are not quayside are not typically afforded the benefit of shore electric power, which allows the vessel to switch off on-board fossil fuel engines or battery systems. Additionally, in the near future, same as the Electric Vehicles (EVs), offshore vessels like tugboats, CTVs SOV, among others will be full electric, therefore the need of offshore electric charging stations.

Arun replaces Brent Konstanzer who previously served as the SOFEC President and CEO. Arun has more than 30 years of experience in the Offshore Mooring Industry with 27 years of experience at SOFEC.

SOFEC Delivers Upper Tower and Mooring Support Structure for MODEC’s FPSO MIAMTE MV34

Houston, March 01, 2021 - SOFEC was awarded a contract by MODEC in October 2018 for the Disconnectable Tower Yoke Mooring System (DTYMS) for the FPSO MIAMTE MV34 to be located in the Salina Sub-basin of the Area 1, Amoca and Mitzon Fields, Bay of Campeche, Gulf of Mexico at a water depth of 32.6 meters.
First Steel Cut on SOFEC’s Sangomar FPSO Turret Mooring
